TOP 5 – rabbits in movies

Photo: Lauri Rantala

So, this is our TOP 5 (or TOP FIVE if you prefer) section. Remember, English on this blog is pretty bad (sorry about that), but we're Bulgarian, so we can't help it (Also, we're trying to create something of a stereotype-joke here).

Here we go.

As you know, rabbits are important creatures. They live in holes and they're always late for tea. If you follow them, they may show you some extraordinary stuff – like strange mushrooms, mad hatters and so on – you get it, we heard (not read) about Alice in Wonderland.

But we DID watch the movie by Tim Burton, and let us tell you – it made us sad. Sad to see one of the greatest directors making a complete fool out of himself. This rabbit, you know - we won't include it in our TOP 5 (sorry, Michael Sheen, you'll always be Brian Clough for us).

It made us think though – if we don't include the king of rabbits, what are we left with? The bunny from "Bambi"? Let's see now…

5. The Narrator from "North" (1994)

We sure thought that we will never see something like

a)    John Wayne and Grace Kelly riding into the sunset
b)    Bruce Willis in a bunny costume

But all you Hans-Grubers out there, guess again! In 1994 there was this movie featuring young Frodo, the woman from "Seinfeld" and… exactly, Bruce Willis as:

How do you like them carrots?

4. Lola Bunny from "Space Jam" (1996)

Was there a sexier female rabbit in the history of movies?

If all female rabbits are like this, we get why rabbits are "doing it" most of the time

3. Shelley Darlingson from "The Hose Bunny" (2008)

Actually, there was (a sexier female rabbit in the history of movies). She's got all of Lola's reasons to be in the TOP (a pair of magnificent… rabbit ears), but she also teaches Emma Stone how to be cool, and not broken-nose superbad, so we're very thankful for that.

2. Frank from "Donnie Darko" (2001)

There's not much to say about Frank. He's your average friendly neighborhood, 6-foot tall, talking rabbit.

1. Harvey from "Harvey" (1950)

Harvey's the quintessential movie bunny. And why do you think is James Stewart one of the most likable actors in history? Well, that's simple – he probably based his choices in life on the advices of an imaginary rabbit.
